One of the wine caves along the cliffs of the Loire, France - 1999.
Besides keeping the aging wine cool, the caves also hid this valuable commodity from the invading Germans during the war.
Good friend, Larry Ehmke, learned he had terminal cancer shortly before his son left for Saltzburg on a college exchange program.
Although we felt totally helpless, my son Wyatt and I decided there was one thing we could do...
We organized a five week tour of Europe for Larry that would allow us to meet up with his son so we could spend some precious time together.
This photo of Larry in a field of sunflowers in the Loire Valley shows his indominable spirit.
Larry passed away not too long after this trip.
